Dear Fleet56,

Why haven't you been updating your site? The internet needs a refreshing and entertaining voice for sailing advocacy, uncorrupted by commercial influences. Without Fleet56, who else in cyberspace will serve to inspire future generations of 110 owners to paint, varnish, drill holes in, plug holes in, and sometimes sail these wonderful boats?

- Curtis from Canada

Dear CFC,

The mysterious but lovable hacker collectives Anonymous and Lulzsec have been repeatedly attacking our site, looking for an exploit that will gain them access to the proprietary trade secrets behind the famous SHRIMP Silt-o-meter(tm). As a precaution, the Fleet56 security team has ordered a full shut-down to minimize the risks. We are slowly re-introducing new content, now that we have finally completed the knitting of our SecurityBlanket(tm) technology, and in the next few weeks we will begin unmasking the names and locations of each and every Anonymous and Lulzsec member.

Dear Fleet56,

What does the International 110 logo look like? It better not be just three numbers in block lettering, or I'm going to buy a Wabbit instead.

Dear BEG,

It looks sort of like this:

Dear Fleet56,

I recently inquired about a family friendly sailboat to race on Tomales Bay.  We have a one year old son who loves to sail and my wife's parents would enjoy racing with us too. They are not very active folks but love fresh air and boats in general. I was referred to your web site and told that the 110 is very similar to the Flying Scot but possibly better suited to a pregnant woman (my wife has a bun in the oven and is expecting sometime in the next several months or so).

- Bun Means Baby

Dear BMB,

Yes, we know; 'Bun' means Baby, and 'Oven' means Womb, and your wife is still encouraging you to procreate in spite of your obviously condescending personality.

The International 110 is fun for the whole family, including the unborn. C.Raymond Hunt definitely had expectant mothers in mind when he designed the vessel, and trapezing is good exercise for those childbirthing muscles.

From experience, let me just give you one little piece of advice. When sailing pregnant in light air, try not to get too far down-current from the club if you are dilated more than 5 centimeters.

Expecting sailors can get outfitted here

Dear Fleet56,

I understand your Fleet 56 has been holding "A" sail and general tuning clinics. I think my whole family could benefit from these but I understand that you don't attend these yourself and I was wondering why not? I am especially interested in the "A" sail clinics!  Could you please tell me what an "A" sail is?

- Cordially,

Gordon Douglas

Dear CGD,

I'll answer the last question first. The "A" in A-sail stands for "Allah". The "Allah-sail" was invented by Morrocan sailors in the 15th Century, and was used extensively in Middle Eastern trading vessels during the golden age of nautical piracy from about 1600, until cannonballs got fast enough to outrun sailboats in the early 1800's.

The reason I don't attend A-Sail clinics is that I don't need to. Jibing an A-Sail is so simple even a child can do it without any formal training.

Dear Fleet56

I heard your entire fleet is planning to come to the Nationals this year. Why?

- Gloucester Aint Gorgeous

Dear GAG,

Northern California is a gloomy, overcrowded, pestilent, fuming waste-dump. Though we love our precious Tomales Bay, we still realize that it is simply a tepid bathtub of skanky mud, poisoned by bird feces and populated with factory-farmed and inhumanely-treated mollusks. And don't even get me started about the fecal matter that runs down from the dozens of cattle ranches that surround and choke this foul basin of filth!

Once we heard about the tranquil waters of the Eastern Point yacht club of Gloucester Mass, naturally we yearned to sail in the wholesome foam of your pristine waves.

Give us your boats, or we will take them by force. You have been warned.
